Don’t Miss John Calipari’s Nice Words About Giannis

This is a little bit old. I should have blogged this earlier today, but shit happens where you miss things. Dan Patrick had Kentucky basketball head coach John Calipari on Monday’s show. Coach Cal is in the news with two of his prized recruits – Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins are playing together under one Smoothie roof. Patrick and Calipari got to talking about All-Star Game, and Cal spoke the high praises of Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Is it weird or twisted that my first thought was… ‘Oh Calipari wouldn’t mind coaching in Milwaukee.’? I don’t know if that shows how much I hate Jason Kidd and want change even if it’s a former NBA failure who is probably not leaving the collegiate game. Calipari talks about how he ‘missed out Giannis’ over in Greece, and for good reason given the level of basketball he played over there. Although, I’m curious what would have happened if Greek Freak ends up playing with a Kentucky or Duke for a year. He’s probably taken in the first couple picks the following year, right? Would he have stayed in school for more than just a year? College teams are getting much smarter about trying to get young international talent to play for a year or two. Arizona’s Lauri Makkanen is a great example.
If and when Kidd gets fired, that Calipari clip will be used by sportswriters and talk show hosts all over the city as ‘CAL HAS INTEREST IN MILWAUKEE.’
