Enes Kanter Tweets & Deletes Deer Emoji

Well here we go. New York Knicks Center Enes Kanter tweeted then deleted a deer emoji late last night. The deer emoji is typically used for the Milwaukee Bucks, so, this leads some Bucks fans to think we might see some noise with Knater on the ‘first’ day of NBA Free Agency today. This would not be a move that would thrill most Bucks fans. The sentiment for Kanter is mostly negative with only a few positives. People do not really want him on this roster. Let’s try to explore why that could be.

The first part of this is obvious… Kanter does not play defense. He’s one of the worst post defenders in the league. When he’s in the game, it’s for strictly offense, and that’s it. Kanter cannot provide any defensive assistance in the post. Sure, he can rebound the basketball better than most guys on the Bucks, but that’s about all he can do from a defense side of the ball. The other part is I think people really don’t like his personality. He rubs people the wrong way with antics towards LeBron and others. I’d look forward to inevitable article about ‘If Giannis and Kanter could exist being from Greece and Turkey.’ That’s a free one to either The Ringer or Sports Illustrated.
To me, I have no problem with Kanter if the price is right. If you stick him with Thon Maker on the second unit, Thon can protect the paint while Kanter does whatever on defense. He’s an immediate bench scorer in the post, and the Bucks lacked that all season when they traded Greg Monroe to the Phoenix Suns. He provides a good skill set and already showed he can be a vital asset to a playoff team.
We’ll see if the emoji means anything today.
Charlie.
