Giannis’ Save Starts Bucks On Right Foot

Toronto Raptors burned the Milwaukee Bucks multiple times in the last few years. Raptors always seem to prove to be a thorn in Milwaukee’s side. Jason Kidd would get outcoached by Dwane Casey and Milwaukee usually lost the game. Bucks led most of the second half after a strong second quarter, but Toronto kept coming at Milwaukee and at one point had the lead. Jonas Valanciunas forced overtime, and it looked like Milwaukee might lost their spirit. Yet they didn’t at all. Bucks found a way to win with an amazing save by Giannis to kick it out to Jason Terry who nailed a three to tie the game in overtime. This is one of Milwaukee’s best wins of the year.

Clutch Giannis is the best Giannis
One of the best things about the season has been how Giannis Antetokounmpo became a clutch basketball player. He showed flashes last year, but Antetokounmpo is a stone cold killer in the clutch. He has some of the best numbers in the clutch moments of the basketball game. Antetokounmpo closed out Toronto with a huge shot with 12 seconds left to go in the game. It didn’t even feel like he had a big game, but you look at this line… It was stellar. Giannis scored 26 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.
Bench comes through in a rare instance
We haven’t seen the Bucks bench be a thing this season. Zach Lowe pointed out yesterday that this team needed some help there as it continues to be a mess. They must have been reading the article. Thon Maker, noted Raptors killer, had 12 points with two threes, and Terry came out of nowhere to have a huge game. Terry played a season-high 26 minutes where he scored 12 points including that huge three in overtime.
Bucks’ Cream City kits continue to show luck
Milwaukee is currently 5-0 in their city uniforms. Obviously, the thought would be to have them where these jerseys for the rest of the season. According to the Bucks earlier this year, they’ll be wearing these 14 times this season, so, we’ll see nine more opportunities in the kits. Perhaps they became the standard when playoffs roll around?
Next up
Milwaukee welcomes New Orleans to town on Sunday afternoon. We’ve seen Milwaukee play better on Sundays on the road, but this is the first one at home this season. Anthony Davis-Giannis will be a sight to see, and it’s a shame this game isn’t on ABC. We need to have a flex scheduling for Saturday and Sunday games. New Orleans is coming off a dramatic overtime win versus Miami yesterday.
