How Wisconsin Can Go Far in NCAA Tournament

Wisconsin Badgers are up against the wall has an eight seed. If they beat a good Virginia Tech team, they will play Villanova, the overall number one seed. Badgers are attempting to return to the Sweet 16 for the fourth straight year. For the seniors on this team – Nigel Hayes, Zak Showalter and Bronson Koenig, it’s a hell of an accomplish to get to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for your entire college career. How this could become a reality for Wisconsin and their fan base. (Marquette’s version will likely drop tomorrow).
Protect the 3-point arc
Wisconsin Badgers are woefully bad at protecting the three-point arc. They are in the 300’s when it comes to this category. Bad news for them is they are facing two of the best three-point shooting teams with Virginia Tech and if they win, Villanova. Badgers have to do everything in their power to avoid getting beat from the perimeter.
Make free throws like they’ve never made free throws before
Wisconsin’s sore spot on offense is the fact they can’t make free throws. I think at times when things aren’t going well from the line, the team avoids heading into the paint because they don’t want to draw a foul sending them to the line. Nigel Hayes needs to be better here. I’m not sure if it’s fixable midseason, but you never know. Wisconsin fixes this problem, they’re scoring 5-10 more points per game.

Solving the Happ double-team issue
This seemed like it went away during Big Ten Tournament, and kudos to Wisconsin for figuring a slove. Ethan Happ gets double-teamed like your favorite pornstar this could be a long Thursday night. There needs to be move movement when Happ gets the ball in the post. Wisconsin can find some easy buckets with double teams and Badgers need to capitalize on it. t
No Respect angle
We already saw it from Zak Showalter, and it’s going to come as long as this team plays in the NCAA Tournament. I think it’s bullshit personally. Get being mad, but respect is earned each year. Wisconsin was a seven or eight even if players think they’re deserved more.
Chances?
Five percent – Villanova is a tough task, and i don’t see many teams including Wisconsin getting past them.
