I didn’t get to a recap for Friday’s game for some work reasons, and I didn’t want to watch the game. I was out on Friday and missed my first Brewers game. Usually, when that happens, I’ll watch a condensed version of the game. With Milwaukee losing 7-2 to the worst team in baseball, I didn’t feel the need for it. There is no recap for Saturday either because they lost 12-4 and looked awful while doing it. Josh Lindblom can strike out guys but if he gives up dingers like it’s part of his job. Speaking of dingers, I’ve become so goddamn jealous of the Chicago White Sox and the San Diego Padres. Those teams could not be more fun. And those fans are likely psyched to watch baseball again after years of mediocrity. But I want to have fun too, guys.

Maybe this season is smacking me back into reality for me and other Brewers fans. The last two years were awesome. 2018 more than 2019, but they are rare in nature for a small market team. They rarely have year in, year out success. Maybe I need to make peace that the next two years might be shitty then the Brewers will rise again. Regardless, I still defend Milwaukee for not signing Yasmani Grandal given his age and his position. Same goes for Mike Moustakas. Those deals were too steep if the plan was to sign Yelich this year. The problem with the Brewers lies in the other guys they got like Eric Sogard and Justin Smoak. Those guys are fringe pro athletes, and barely worth a damn. David Stearns needs to be better about bringing in quality even if it’s at a low cost.

This also could be due to watching Trent Grisham smoke three homers out of Petco Park last night. Grisham’s move probably doesn’t happen if Stearns knew about a pandemic where Lorenzo Cain would have opted out. Still, the Brewers return does not look great for Stearns and Co. As both Grishah and Zach Davies are part of the most fun teams in baseball.

I should probably let both fan bases enjoy this moment though. White Sox haven’t been to the playoffs since 2008. That was 12 years ago. San Diego hasn’t been there since 2006. Both fan bases have endured countless years of losing, and baseball is finally fun for them after years upon years of torture.

Maybe the Brewers will get fun at some point, but I’m pretty confident I’ll dislike watching them until the final out of the season.
