Does Infighting Among Packers Organization Matter?

News came out yesterday from the esteemed Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that Packers coaches were all pretty ‘pissed’ that T.J. Lang didn’t find his way back to the team. This isn’t surprising given Lang’s impact on the team, and most of the offense saw him as a leader of this Packers squad who ran into trouble before with having limited veteran leadership. All of this newfound infighting should not matter to Packers fans currently, but let’s reassess in the first couple weeks of October.
Infighting is common in virtually anyone’s life. You might be battling with work over something, or your girlfriend/boyfriend keeps giving you a hard time. It’s not really a shock that some Packers coaches especially Lang’s position coach had a problem with him leaving the team. James Campen wants to keep everyone he can, therefore, his anger towards this is warranted yet not the worst thing in the world. Packers players and coaches can be mad about Lang, but it’s worth going over some of the facts here. One, he got overpaid by Detroit with 22 million dollars guaranteed. Two, he always has an injury of some sort. Guy is a warrior but never really healthy. These things Packers players and coaches do not see at all.
The other thing about this whole infighting ordeal is it’s April. NFL Draft hasn’t even happened yet where things can go down over that weekend. Additionally, there are three months to make moves on some lesser players to fill out the roster. Not that I’m advocating for him, but Adrian Peterson is still out there along with other high-profile names. Thompson could easily have a good draft then find a couple more guys to fill in the holes.
Let’s not start up drama that Packers are each other necks. Front office is their own thing. The players and coaches on the field is another. They’re cats and dogs which is fine even if people think this leads to ‘not being on the same page.’ Everyone will fall in line by the season start date, and at some point, journalists will get over the fact Lang isn’t a Packer anymore.
