When the list of names came out for the NFL Hall of Fame last night, former Packer, Viking and Saint Darren Sharper’s name was listed. Sharper is currently serving time for raping multiple women in multiple states. Sharper will likely spend most of his adult life in jail. He’s a complete and utter piece of shit. Read anything from the Louisiana sentence that put him behind bars for 18 years. Sharper has no business being associated with the NFL Hall of Fame.

Will he ever get in or get a vote? No, he will not. I don’t really care that all of this happened after Sharper left the league. This man is a serial rapist. There’s nothing that says he didn’t do this during his playing career in many states or in college. You don’t become a serial rapist overnight. If Rae Carruth had six All-Pro seasons, would he be on the ballot for the Hall of Fame? That might be an extreme case, but it’s worth pointing out that’s the type of bad guy we are talking about here. It’s not someone who had a DUI or a drug arrest. It’s a fucking scumbag rapist who doesn’t deserve the sentences from me.

This is a special case and the NFL needs to do the right thing here. Sharper’s name shouldn’t appear on any Hall of Fame list going forward. Roger Goodell needs to establish some sort of off-the-field guidelines for the Hall. But you know, he probably doesn’t care enough to make an impact on a serious issue.
