John Lynch Is Somehow The 49ers GM

In one of the weirder moves of the offseason, San Francisco 49ers hired John Lynch, FOX color analyst, as their general manager. That actually happened with San Francisco. It’s hard to believe a move like this was made with a team who really needs stability more than any team in the National Football League. They’re giving the keys to Lynch, a person with absolutely no experience running a football. He’s going to wing it, and while being a smart dude, this feels like a bad decision.
A part of me thinks Lynch will bring Tony Dungy or Jon Gruden into the fold. It would not surprise me to see a story like this coming out in the next few days. Yes, television is a great gig for both of those men, but Lynch’s relationship with both mean would help with personnel moves. Although Kyle Shanahan, who is likely to take over, might not be okay with having a Super Bowl coach looking over his shoulder. Shanahan’s dad assuming that role would also make a ton of sense. If Lynch goes into this thing without many good minds, he’s completely and utterly fucked.
Jed York is working his way to being the worst owner in the National Football League. Bad move after bad move haven’t worked out for him. He moved out Jim Harbaugh. Same goes for Trent Baalke. York might work his way into the worst owners fan club for all of the professional sports.
