Josh Jones Hype Machine Starts Today

Green Bay Packers are in OTA’s to really launch the 2017 NFL season. It’s always an exciting time to be a Packers fan, but I feel like this year is the culmination of the last couple plus some pieces were added to the roster that could really help the team. One of those pieces is Josh Jones, the second-round pick from NC State, who got Packers fans attention when he applied the lumber to Jeff Janis in street clothes.
#Packers rookie safety Josh Jones lays a big hit on WR Jeff Janis in pass drills, despite no pads. That's a no-no. Rookie mistake.

This was not taken as a rookie mistake by anyone including Mike Daniels, Packers defensive leader, who quoted tweeted that with a smiling emoji. Jones brought the pain to Janis, and it fired everyone up for no reason actually. Like it’s good to see this guy is a little reckless because that’s been missing from the Packers defensive backfield, but it doesn’t mean shit at the end of the day. Taylor Mays was a monster in college and played like that in pros which got him nowhere. I’m not trying to be a Debbie Downer, rather, provide some perspective to calm down Packers fans who needed a cigarette and a dark room when reading this tweet.
I do think it’s interesting Jones will be playing some linebacker and safety. Green Bay did this with Morgan Burnett a bit last year out of necessity, but it appears this is a trend in the NFL having a ‘rover’-type defensive player playing both linebacker and safety.
