Kevin Durant Goes Down & It Appears Somewhat Serious

Kevin Durant did not have the homecoming he wanted in Washington D.C. tonight. Golden State forward left the game with a knee injury in the beginning moments of the game after Warriors center Zaza Pachuila barreled into the front of his knee. Warriors called it a hyperextension of the knee, and reports are breaking that the team plans to sign Matt Barnes which would indicate that this injury isn’t something that will be better in a couple of days, rather a couple of weeks.

While most people will shrug this off as a minor blow to a great team, I see it differently. Golden State will have the same pieces as they did for the last two Finals without Durant, but they’ve completely changed their style to accommodate him. What happens here? We go back to more Splash Brothers and Draymond Green running things as a point forward, yet the team might be thrown out of wack trying to borrow two different styles with the same players. It’s an interesting subplot to see what happens with Warriors who are on a East Coast swing currently.
One seed is very important this year. Golden State avoids Houston until Conference Finals with the one. San Antonio Spurs are creeping at four games back, but Warriors do have a little bit of comfort unless things go south without Durant.
