Malcolm Brogdon’s Shoulder Shrug Says It All

Okay, look, I know the Milwaukee Bucks won tonight. It was one of their best wins of the season honestly coming back from 20 points, but we shouldn’t overlook the fact they played like absolute shit for the first three quarters. This team looked ready to quit on Jason Kidd. Now, they didn’t and found a way to win this basketball game. We’ll have more on the game itself tomorrow morning. But one of the better read-between-the-lines moment was Malcolm Brogdon shrugging his shoulders as to why Kidd kept him on the bench until the very end of the first half.
Brogdon obviously said “It’s all about being a professional” after the game, but Kidd didn’t really give a good reason why last year’s Rookie of the Year stayed on the bench. He went with Sterling Brown early to fix a mistake made by Tony Snell, and he rode Brown because ‘he played well.’ What in the actual fuck, Kidd? I don’t mind Brown getting some run but not to replace Brogdon for a majority of the first half.
Milwaukee turned it around in the second half, and you can’t help noticing Brogdon got more time. He finished with +20 in a true meaning of why plus/minus is a useful stat. He scored 13 points in 26 minutes proving to be part of the reason Milwaukee won this basketball game. Kidd should not get let off the hook for this game entirely for this move. I think Kidd and Jon Horst need to figure out how they can balance this roster out more because it’s clear that the abundance of guards is making Kidd’s life difficult.
