Barring an NIT appearance by Marquette, the last Bradley Center game for the Golden Eagles was one for the record books. They close out the building that has housed Marquette for the last 30 years with an amazing comeback victory led by Andrew Rowsey whom also made his Senior Day a memorable experience. Marquette picks up their fifth straight win against Creighton with a 85-81 victory to finish .500 in the Big East and feel pretty good about being directly on the bubble as long as they win on Wednesday night.

Andrew Rowsey’s second half was something else
You might think that there’s no difference between Markus Howard and Andrew Rowsey getting on a heater, but Rowsey is so much more dynamic with his swagger that you get irrationally excited when he touches the basketball. I was a little in my cups watching, but holy shit, I hung on to every time he touched the basketball thinking the ball was going up. I watched the highlights via Twitter, and the FOX guys were going nuts as well. While he frustrates the hell out of me sometimes, he will be missed on this team.

Marquette’s defense steps up once again versus the Blue Jays.
You may not think Marquette’s defense stood tall giving up 81 points, but if you consider the team trailed by 11 points with 16 minutes left to go in this game then came all the way back to the take the lead with 10 minutes left, it’s an impressive feat. Marquette did just enough defensively to slow down the Blue Jays in the second half. It helped that Marquette couldn’t miss though. They didn’t have many missed opportunities from their side of the court, and that makes your defense instantly better when shots are falling at a rapid rate.

At this point, Marquette will be one of the teams talked about throughout Selection Sunday if they beat DePaul then lose to Villanova. If they can somehow beat the Wildcats which I don’t think is that impossible, they are in the tournament. Right now, the projections look good for them even though, they’ll probably have to play a First Four game. Marquette knows whats ahead of them, and they cannot get tight against DePaul again.

Next up
Redemption time for Marquette. They have to avenge what happened a few weeks ago versus the Blue Demons. Madison Square Garden has been a hellspace for Marquette’s offense throughout the recent years. Let’s hope that changes on Wednesday night.
