Martellus Bennett Chooses #80 Thanks To Twitter

Green Bay Packers new tight end Martellus Bennett did something cool on Twitter over the weekend. He let Packers fans and Twitter followers chose his next number. I, myself, chose 85, but the people went with number 80. A number made famous by Donald Driver, and before him, James Lofton. My guess is Bennett will have more of an impact on Packers offense than the last number 80, Justin Perillo.
Looks like #80 is the winner. The people have spoken… https://t.co/vGU9XBfg35

Bennett couldn’t roll with his usual number 88 due to Ty Montgomery, who also announced this weekend that he will be riding with that number again due to some NFL rule. This is a cool way to endear yourself with Packers fans. People love this kind of shit. There are fans all over the country and the State of Wisconsin that will point out Bennett’s number 80 and say ‘Hey, I chose that.’ to their friends. My favorite part of this whole experience had to be Packers fans trying to avoid him taking Driver’s number since it’s apparently some sacred cow for Packers fans. Driver put out a tweet about how we should all cheer for anyone wearing #80 until it’s retired (Not going to happen) which seems kind of silly. No one should freak out because Driver is cool with it.
You got it H-Town. #RockIt https://t.co/sNlJkaOHoL

We shall look forward to seeing Bennett rock the 80 come September.
