Mike McCarthy Puts His Nuts On The Table

A little history lesson to begin the blog post… y’all know who Lyndon B. Johnson is, correct? The former President from Texas would pull his dick which he named ‘Jumbo’ out if he needed to get things done. Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy did the equivalent of that when he met with the media on Wednesday. McCarthy advocated for the return of T.J. Lang and Eddie Lacy paying no mind that either player is a free agent currently. McCarthy made it sound like both players are part of the team.
McCarthy also with strong reply to who'd play right guard if TJ Lang departs: "Those are hypotheticals. I’m counting on T.J. to come back."

This is a hell of a quote. This is the type of quote you make when you’re sick of the front office not listening to you about players. Aaron Rodgers made his comments after the year was done in Atlanta, and now, McCarthy followed it up. This is a strong 1-2 punch of campaigning. McCarthy wants Lang to come back on this team, and that’s the thought with everyone else in the organization. While Lacy would be a loss, it’s to a point where I think there’s a real conversation to be had about McCarthy and Thompson if Lang isn’t a Packer next season.
McCarthy unequivocal on Lacy to #Packers beat writers in Indy: "We’d like to get Eddie back. He’s our guy. He’s one of our core players."

The same could be said for Lacy. He also spoke about how the idea of Ty Montgomery and Lacy ‘intrigued’ the head coach. This is unlike what we’ve seen from McCarthy in a long time. I’m not sure what exactly it means at this moment. We have to see what happens with the free agents before really knowing how this will all play out. But it appears Lang and Lacy are top priority to the head coach, and that’s interesting public feedback for Thompson.
Free agency begins in a week, and this is usually the time you start seeing moves made by Green Bay.
