Milwaukee Brewers Are The Ulitmate Nobody Believes in Us Team

Milwaukee Brewers do not belong in the MLB Playoffs. They know that. You know that. I know that. We’re all aware that this team is probably not good enough to field a playoff roster. Guess what? It doesn’t fucking matter. That’s how baseball is doing it this year, and if commissioner and hater of baseball Rob Manfred have his way, there will be expanded playoffs moving forward. Milwaukee Brewers start today 0-0 just like the Los Angeles Dodgers. It is a clean slate, and it is time for the Brewers to shock the world. Let’s embrace it as fans.
If you’re not excited about playoff baseball due to the quality of play, let’s find a way to turn it up. This is carefree baseball. On our various podcasts, I talk about ‘House money situations’ where a local team doesn’t have anything to play for, so whatever happens, is ‘house money.’ This is that situation. If the Brewers lose these two games to Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw, no one cares. You know why? Both pitchers are good, and the Brewers are not a strong team. If the Brewers win one, that’s awesome and we should all love their competitiveness. And if they win two, let’s go and shock the world.
How Milwaukee can win these games is very simple. They need to have early offense. The bats cannot go sleep in the first three to four innings of the game. That happens too often to Milwaukee. It’s hard to recall a game where Milwaukee battled back from an early deficit or they were able to turn things around with their offense late in games. Brent Suter going to the mound in Game 1 has some Dodgers’ players licking their chops. They were 8th in OPS against lefties this season and top five in homers versus the handedness. Walker Buehler was tough on the Crew in the 2018 playoffs and has been tough at home all year with a 1.34 ERA.
Again, it’s not going to be easy, but the Brewers have done some wild things during the time of Craig Counsell so I wouldn’t expect anything less.
