Move Over Mack, Fowler Could be a Cheaper Option

Green Bay Packers are in need of a pass rusher. It’s still a problem for the team. It’s why they’re sniffing around for a player like Khalil Mack. He’s expensive in the ways of two first round picks, and you need to have him signed before even trading him. There might be a cheaper option. Dante Fowler of the Jacksonville Jaguars could be available. He has a load of potential as a former top pick, and he might need a change of scenery. Green Bay could be that place.
Jacksonville Jaguars might be done with Dante Fowler. There are no reports of this but apparently, the New York Jets gauged Jacksonville’s interest of trading the former top five draft pick. It makes sense to find out where the Jaguars are with Fowler. They declined his fifth-year option and disappointed for the greater part of his career. Green Bay would have to deal with him being suspended for Week 1 against Chicago due to an off-the-field issue where he stepped on someone’s glasses & threw their groceries in a lake (FYI – Complete fuckboy move by him, who throws groceries?!) That said, he could be a real asset.
Fowler being in a contract year could help things out a great deal in two ways. One, he will come very cheap to the team. It’s likely going to cost the Packers only a third or fourth round pick. Two, he could play above what we’ve seen from him as Fowler is playing for a major contract. If he shows out this season, it’s likely the former Florida standout will cash out next free agency season.
With the odds that Mack will stay a member of the Oakland Raiders, Packers should refocus their efforts elsewhere. Fowler might be the guy to look at moving forward.
