Nashville Predators, Milwaukee’s New Adopted Team
Every Stanley Cup Playoffs season is pretty much the same in Milwaukee. All of the sudden, there are hundreds of Chicago Blackhawks fans, a few Red Wings fans along with a Wild transplant or two. In that mix as well are those who support Nashville Predators. They are likely Milwaukee Admirals fans first and Preds fans second given that’s the major league team for Milwaukee. That support group has grown in major numbers through this Stanley Cup Playoffs with Predators making it to the Stanley Cup for the first time. Milwaukee is a bandwagon supporter of Nashville, and I’m alright with it.
This isn’t your prototypical bandwagon though. There’s a reason for Milwaukee to support Nashville. Some of the players on the ice were former Admirals players. I’m not a huge Ads follower, but it must be absolutely wild to watch players you supported in the past in the minor leagues play in the playoffs. I have to think that’s a routine feeling with AAA teams in baseball and soon enough, D-League teams in basketball. Additionally, there were those who decided to support the Predators in Round 1 of the playoffs when they took on Chicago to counteract all of the Blackhawks fans in town.Related, the NHL and Milwaukee should really think about putting together an exhibition game at the new Bucks arena pitting Blackhawks and Predators As I’ve done in the past if you find a team in the first round, you usually end up seeing it out.
This is a refreshing change from seeing all of the Blackhawks gear in the area. Nashville is a fun team to watch led by P.K. Subban, one of the more dynamic players in all of hockey. They do not begin the Stanley Cup until next Monday when Preds will either get defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins or Ottawa Senators.
