Packers & Adam Gase Would Be a Great Relationship
One of the names in the coaching search that hadn’t been officially interviewed by the Packers was Adam Gase. Miami Dolphins fired him last week to some surprise. Gase did not have a successful tenure in Miami. They went 10-6 in his first year then missed the playoffs in back-to-back years. When the Green Bay beat reporters informed the masses that Gase would be interviewing, the reaction on Twitter was like they reported Hue Jackson was visiting Lambeau Field. For some reason, people are blind to looking back on what Gase did in the past and not realizing that this could be the next Pete Carroll.
Before we talk about Gase, we need to look at the Miami Dolphins. They’re one of the worst run franchises in the National Football League. They’re an organization that is still looking to replace Dan Marino. Yes, you read that right. They haven’t figured out how to replace their former Hall of Fame quarterback from years ago. That would be like the Packers still looking for their Favre replacement. Miami hasn’t won the the AFC East since 2008, and the last time they were in the second weekend of the NFL Playoffs was 2000. Stephen Ross is one of the more underrated meddling owners in pro sports and sticks his nose in whenever he sees fit. Mike Tannenbaum is a huckster and fraud leading their front office, although, he did take a step down from general manager.
As for Gase, he’s an offensive mastermind. He played a huge part in Peyton Manning getting another Super Bowl ring. Manning loved working with him as well. He isn’t the easiest guy to work with much like Rodgers. Think about how much Manning would change things at the line or do his own thing. It’s similar to Rodgers, therefore, it is easy to see how Gase and Rodgers could get together. He also helped make Jay Cutler a competent quarterback in Chicago. Cutler had some of his best years under Gase and liked working with him as well. The former Dolphins coach did not have a quarterback at this level during his time there. With Rodgers, he would be able to do things similar to what they did in Denver.
This is a home run hire for the Packers if they do like Gase over McDaniels or others they’re interviewing this week. He knows the NFC North too during his time in Chicago and has a leg up in that category. Gase should be one of the your favorites for the next Packers head coach.
