Packers Catch Break on Bakhtiari’s Ankle

Green Bay Packers went into full crisis mode on Saturday night. David Bakhtiari, the star left tackle for the Packers, went down with an ankle injury on Family Night. It appeared serious as he was carted off the field. The reports came out from Aaron Nagler and Ian Rapoport that he was going to be ‘okay.’ That’s major news for the Packers and a big-time break for the team. Bakhtiari is near the top of the list of players that Green Bay cannot afford to lose to have a successful season.
There are not many players more valuable than number 69 at left tackle. He’s right up there with Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, Mike Daniels and a few others. He is not easily replaceable, so, if Green Bay lost him for the season, it would have been a massive hill to climb. Not to mention, Bryan Bulaga is just working his way back from an ACL injury, and while he’ll be ready for Week 1, injuries are still a concern for him after only playing five games last season. Green Bay would have been very light on the offensive line if Bakhtiari missed any time.
It also hurts the team that Cole Madison is not in camp yet. Apparently, he’s dealing with a personal issue per Brian Gutekunst who informed the media of his absence last week. Madison would have received a great deal of first-team reps if in camp. I get personal issues, and who knows what Madison could be dealing with at the moment though. Whenever the term ‘personal issue’ is thrown around, it tends to be serious. Hopefully, he can get back to camp soon and attempt to catch up on missing the first half of Training Camp.
Only a few more weeks until this becomes reality again.
Charlie.
