Packers Excitement Meter: MVS SZN Has Begun

There isn’t a ton to be excited about after the Packers two touchdown loss to New England. They didn’t play well. I wish I could be encouraged about the Packers, but admitting to you all, I’m at a pretty low point. Last week, I asked people on Twitter ‘What’s your confidence level with the Packers’ from 1-10. I said ‘7-10’ and now I’ve swung to ‘1-4’. This team feels like they’re teetering on spiraling out of control, and they just need a bump to push them to a full spiral. Maybe, they’ll clean it up but there’s a lot that needs to happen with this team. At least, we can get excited about MVS. He’s a beast in the best way possible.
Category Five Excited; Marquez Valdes-Scantling – Let’s go. MVS is the man. He took Geronimo Allison spot in the receiving core over the last couple of weeks. He’s their second wide receiver lined up across from Davante Adams without question. MVS is such a baller. For the first time in a very long time, Aaron Rodgers has a receiver that he can just throw it up to and he’ll come down with it. We’re going to see more and more explosive plays with MVS.
Category Four Excited: Antonio Morrison – Okay, he didn’t do a ton, but I loved how Morrison stepped in with reckless abandonment today. Blake Martinez goes out with an injury, and Morrison comes in there like a motherfucker. He loves to smack dudes around like it’s nobody’s business. Sometimes, Morrison gets too caught up with trying to make the big hit, but he’s a type of ballplayer that Green Bay’s defense has been missing in the last few years. He had eight tackles and didn’t even play that much.
Category Three Excited: Aaron Jones – If he didn’t fumble the football, Jones is a category four without question. Jones played really well as the lead running back. He had 14 carries with 76 yards for a sparkling 5.4 clip. Jones made shit happen yet again in the backfield. It’s unfortunate that he fumbled at the end. It says something about Mike McCarthy that all of Packers Twitter thought Jones would be put on the sideline for fumbling and wouldn’t get a chance to redeem himself. Jones did come back into the game.
Category Two Excited: Bashaud Breeland – We might have seen why Breeland didn’t make the active roster for the first couple weeks of his time in Green Bay. He struggled in his debut. New England picked on him a lot, and he didn’t have much of an answer. Breeland did make a play with his helmet to stop the Patriots from scoring at the goal line.
Category One Excited: Mike McCarthy – Last year when Jason Kidd got fired by the Milwaukee Bucks, I asked on Tapping The Keg podcast, who is that hateable person for Bucks fans? I should have amended it for Wisconsin sports fans because that person is Mike McCarthy. No one likes him. It’s hard to defend him. Sure, the next guy will receive complaints too. But there needs to be a next guy. It’s time. No more Rodgers saving Mac’s job.
