Packers Fans Can Relate To Bears Fans’ Fury Over Tony Corrente

One thing I said to my podcast co-host Mitch a couple of weeks ago about officials was this, ‘If I know your name, you’re probably a bad official. If you’re good, I will not know who you are.’ This is the case in every sport that people watch. If the officials are bad, you likely know their first and last name. Seeing Brad Rogers calling the Rams-Titans game gave me quivers of the awful Bears-Packers game he called. Or seeing Tony Corrente aka butthole eyes calling the Steelers-Bears game. Corrente’s crew called one of the worst games of the year. The refs became the story with multiple questionable calls including this weird hip check and taunt by the official.

Corrente should be suspended by the league for one game or assigned a couple of meaningless games while the NFL tries to clear this name. Simply put, the Bears got robbed last night. If you told me Corrente and boys had the Moneyline for Pittsburgh, that would not shock me.
For Packers fans, this likely brings up some bad memories of a 2018 game against the Minnesota Vikings. At the time, we didn’t know that season would tailspin into nothing. Packers had an eight-point lead with two minutes left to go in the game when Corrente called a brutal roughing passer penalty on Clay Matthews. If Corrente had not made that call, Green Bay wins the game and starts the year 2-0 instead of 1-0-1. Looking back on it, I thought “Maybe it wasn’t as bad as I remembered?” But yes, it was just as bad. I cannot believe to do this day that this is a roughing the passer penalty.
Bears and Packers fans will not always get along but in this case, they can find some common ground.
