Packers Players Join Fans In ‘Owning’ Part of the Packers

Green Bay Packers sold stock yesterday. They will make $90 million on this sale. People were trying to dunk on the Packers all day for this like it was some sort of big deal. In all honesty, this is a great thing for the community. What it does is keep Green Bay in Green Bay, Wisconsin. And they’re not asking the City of Green Bay to fund anything. Rather, they’re asking their fans to pay for it by becoming owners of the Packers. The fans aren’t the only ones getting into the action. A.J. Dillon, Aaron Jones, Kurt Benkert, and Oren Burks all are now owners too.

This is fucking cool. Green Bay sold stock before, and maybe, players bought it back then too, but social media was an infant back in those days. It’s cool to see all of those guys buy-in at this level. Weirdly, it speaks to the culture that Green Bay has here. These guys could get cut or moved on from in some capacity yet still they have enough loyalty to the Packers organization that they’re willing to be signed on for life, not just their contract.
It’s why people come back all the time. It’s why the Green Bay Packers are special. People want to own a piece of the team. This might be a silly thing to you, but it tells me a lot about where we are with this team. They’re fully invested in this season, and they want to be champions. They give a shit and want their names remembered as Super Bowl champions.
Charlie.
