Many people wondered if the Green Bay Packers would say anything about the killing of George Floyd. Many teams made statements. Prominent players did as well. But nothing from the Packers. Fans were starting to get itchy about the subject. Packers hit a home run on Thursday morning with their ‘Enough is enough’ campaign discussing the need to end systematic racism in our country. Packers and Mark Murphy would donate $500,000 to charities benefiting social justice later in the day with a statement to follow. Vince Lombardi was a unifier in race relations in the ’60s and he would be proud of this team right now.

The group of players ranged from guys who’ve been on the team for years like Aaron Rodgers and Mason Crosby. To players who have arrived last year like Billy Turner and Preston Smith. Each player had something impactful to say and if anything, it drove home how unified the Packers are as a team. They showed that in 2017 locking arms for the National Anthem in a show of support. But this drove home the point so much more. Better than most statements sports team put out this week.

I’m always happy to be a Packers fan, but I’m extra happy today.
