Postseason Berth is Step One for Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers clinched a postseason berth on Wednesday night. Words cannot describe how awesome it felt to watch a team clinch again. It’s been seven years. I was 23. I remember that one being a college kid playing Edward 40 hands over Facebook’s video chat feature then celebrating with champagne and a 30 minute phone call to my dad (Not shocking, I puked the next day. Who knew malt liquor and champagne didn’t mix?). In the last couple days, I’ve had memories of Fall 2011. One of my favorite times of my life as a person and a sports fan. I wondered if this is the next version of this. Why does it surround the Brewers? Pretty simple. These aren’t the standard at this moment, so, postseason berths are so damn special.
Like I mentioned in a blog post earlier today, this Brewers team might be the most likable team I’ve rooted for in my life. Yes, you read that right. These guys are the best. You watch the celebrations. You hear what they said after clinching and read what Christian Yelich wrote to the Players Tribune. This team loves each other in the most pure way possible. They all care about each other, and there’s a chemistry here that cannot be disregard. Brewers’ social rallying cry is ‘This is my Crew’, and the team teaks it seriously. There’s a legitimate and real culture with this Brewers team.
Like Craig Counsell said in his speech before the bottles popped last night, this is step one. Brewers are hoping they can celebrate again over the weekend and win their second NL Central crown in the last 10 years. They’ve put a ton of pressure on the Chicago Cubs. Their neighbors to the south are struggling as they nearly blew a 6-1 lead to the Pittsburgh Pirates last night. If Pittsburgh wins tonight, they’re all tied up in the final three games of the season. The Central is in reach for the Crew, and they could go out and grab it before this weekend is done. I want more champagne celebrations.
Let’s go Brewers.
Charlie.
