The Reseeded Sweet Sixteen

NCAA Tournament is a day away from kicking back off again. It feels like this week takes forever to get here. Much of the reason is due to the NFL Free Agency slowed down, NBA is getting closer to the playoffs and baseball is finishing up the final week of Spring Training. There’s not much to get excited about. The Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight weekends usually provide some of the best games of the tournament especially the Sweet Sixteen, but this will be hard to watch considering the drama we saw in the first week. What if you could add more drama with the teams not knowing who they played until last Sunday night. Could you imagine the craziness? A reseeded bracket with an all new Selection Show. It would be a rating boondoggle. Let’s live in the land of What if’s for awhile with a reseeded bracket
East Region
1.) Villanova vs. 11.) Loyola (Chicago)
5.) Kentucky vs. 5.) West Virginia
Villanova takes over Virginia’s spot as the top ranked one seed in the Tournament. They will take the Boston region still and welcome Loyola (Chicago) in what would be touted as a David vs. Goliath matchup with many channeling the UMBC spirit. We also get a rematch of one of the better games of this season with Kentucky-West Virginia. The potential of a Nova-Kentucky Elite Eight matchup is delightful.
Midwest Region
Kansas-Syracuse
Texas Tech-Clemson
Funny to see that we get an ACC vs. Big 12 showdown here which would not delight the committee, but that’s how the reseed broke. Could Kansas be the latest elite team to fall for the 2-3 zone or would they compete. Clemson-Texas Tech would be a battle too.
South Region
Duke-Florida State
Gonzaga-Texas A&M
This would be a hell of a region. All four of these teams get up and down the court with great tempo making it very exciting in both matchups. The potential of a Duke-Gonzaga Elite Eight would be something else. I also have this sneaky feeling Texas A&M finds a way to the Elite Eight just like South Carolina did last season.
West Region
Purdue-Kansas State
Michigan-Nevada
Congratulations, Los Angeles, you get two Big Ten teams! Purdue-Kansas State might be an argument against this whole thing, but Michigan-Nevada would be off-the-walls fun.
The land of what if’s are fun, and if you did it this way, it opens the door for a reseeded Final Four.
Charlie.
