Return of Eddie Lacy To Packers Looks Very Possible

Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy is one of the Green Bay Packers’ bigger free agent names out there in the market. Lacy is a unrestricted free agent, and Green Bay could use him back at the right price given they only have one running back on the roster in Ty Montgomery. It appears Packers and Lacy’s agent are having real talks that could bring him back into the fold for a couple more years with the team. This is a tremendous idea and hope Ted Thompson can get it done before March 9th. Here’s what Lacy told ESPN’s Adam Schefter transcribed by Rob Demovsky
“Talking to my agent, the Packers have been very vocal about having me back there,” Lacy said in an interview on Adam Schefter’s “Know Them From Adam” podcast that will be available on Tuesday
Some people we’ll say ‘Of course, he’s talking with Packers and vocal about it, they’re the only team I can talk to before March 9th’, but let’s look next level here. The former second round pick appears on an ESPN podcast and adds an adjective in front of vocal to make people know Packers are serious about doing a deal with him. Green Bay has nine days to convince Lacy to stay with the team, and it’s possible they can make it happen.
Lacy with Montgomery would be a lot of fun for Packers fans, Aaron Rodgers and everyone besides the defenses. The former Alabama star would create quite the thunder and lightening duo with Monty, which Packers haven’t had in YEARS. It’s been long since they’ve had two runners who could each rush for 1,000 yards. This will take pressure off Rodgers and lead to more open looks. The two Packers runners could totally be what Atlanta’s backfield looked like this season which got them all the way to the Super Bowl.
I’m sure Lacy will not be the only upcoming Packers free agent we hear from before the March 9th deadline.
