Rob Gronkowski Love Of The Number 69 Is Unmatched
One of the only drawbacks of this version of the New England Patriots not being in the Super Bowl is there’s no Rob Gronkowski. He’s always an electric Media Day interview and usually provides us with one or two good moments. Thankfully, his high school coach gave us a gem on Tuesday talking about how Gronk purposely missed a free throw so the score would stay at 69. Yep, let’s have his coach explain via WPRI
“So we’re playing a home game and we have 68 points – now it’s not a blowout, but it’s not a particularly close game either. So he [Gronkowski] gets fouled and goes to the free throw line. He hits the first one to get us to 69 and the place goes nuts because he’s playing into it. On his next free throw, he purposely chucks the ball off the backboard and misses so the score would stay at 69 and then runs back on defense pointing at the scoreboard.”
This is so great and so Gronkowski. I can imagine his coaches yelling at him at first then cracking up with their buddies over beers after the game. For more 69-related news on Gronk, his girlfriend Camille Kostek was on Barstool Rundown last night explaining his love for the number. I also love how she rocked a Boston accent haaaaaaaaard.

People do petitions now to be funny, and it’s inevitable one will come out to change Gronk’s number to 69.
