Scoring Too Many Goals? Actually Bad for England

England looks like an an absolute wagon right now. They dominated Panama with a 6-1 victory on Saturday. Harry Kane continued to make his mark as being one of the best up and coming footballers in the game. But here’s the problem. They scored too many goals. Yes, this is actually what’s happening here. Belgium and England are knotted at eight goals. The winner of the group will be screwed in the quarterfinals staring down a potential matchup with Brazil or Germany. While the other side of the table could see Mexico or Switzerland which sounds a little easier although Mexico is a wagon in their own right.
A part of me thinks that these teams should just say ‘fuck it’ and go after the top spot. Reason being is Belgium and England are two of the best teams in this tournament thus far. I get that Brazil and Germany are very challenging matchups in the Round of 8, but still, it’s not like Mexico is a cake walk to the Round of 4. Mexico is playing just as good of soccer as anyone else at the World Cup. If I had to make a prediction on what happens, this game will be a pretty boring 0-0 draw with a few opportunities here and there. Soccer officials don’t want it to look like the fourth NFL preseason game, but that’s what things could be shaping up to be.
Remember kids, it’s usually not winning if you don’t win big, unless you’re England in the 2018 World Cup.
