Why Does Scott Boras Like Milwaukee for Arrieta?

Usually when Scott Boras wants something out in the media, he taps in Jon Heyman. It’s a known relationship in agent-media friendliness. There are many relationship like this all over sports media. Some say it’s out of control, but that’s for the Big J’s to decide. Boras-Heyman is probably the one we see the most of and one that people take issue with like ESPN’s Buster Olney where they got into a little tiff a couple weeks ago. Jake Arrieta is a Boras client, and Heyman pushed the idea of bringing him to Milwaukee multiple times in the last few weeks. Is this something Boras wants or a preferred choice by Arrieta?
What’s interesting in Heyman’s latest article is he mentions the St. Louis Cardinals again. A part of me is wondering if Arreita is out for blood here and would like to stick to his former team, the Chicago Cubs. It makes sense that a player would want to do that to his former team, and with the national narrative of the Brewers needing starter pitching, Milwaukee is a good fit. This doesn’t seem like a writer throwing shit at the wall either. Nationals being the top team is a major red flag that Boras has his hands a bit in the cookie jar here. Remember, Washington is loaded with Boras’ clients, and the relationship with that team is much stronger than others.
We’ll see what happens with Arrieta. There are some message board rumors that Alex Cobb is coming to Milwaukee on Monday. We’ll see if that actually happens though. Message board rumors are exactly that. I feel like Arrieta might ride it out a little bit of Spring Training. Signings are happening, but it’s much slower process than what we’ve seen in the past few years.
