Sitting Brogdon For Game 4 is the Smart Move
Milwaukee Bucks will be without Malcolm Brogdon for another game on Monday night. Bucks announced that he will be out for Game 4. Milwaukee is not taking any risks with their young wing who is still coming back from a tear in his planter fascia. This is a wise move by Milwaukee. I stated after their Game 3 win that this is a house money game for Milwaukee. They win, Milwaukee goes back home for the kill in Game 5, or they lose, it is locked up at 2-2. This means so much more to Boston hence why Marcus Smart will probably play in Game 4. Brogdon will be back for Game 5 no matter what happens in Game 4. That is a promise.
If you’re a Bucks fan pushing for the return of Brogdon, I get it. He is one of the best players on the Bucks roster and will give them an instant boost. He also has been really good against Boston for his career. But this is about protecting him in a game that does not mean as much. My assumption is the coaching staff knows how they’ll use Brogdon whether it’s in Game 4 on Monday or in Game 5 on Wednesday. They might use Game 4 as an experiment to find out what situations and what players will Brogdon mix with on Wednesday. Mike Budenholzer is Bobby Axelrod while Brad Stevens is Taylor Mason. These guys are making so many little moves that go under-the-radar for the greater public.
Bucks showed already they can beat this Boston team without Brogdon. They did it on Tuesday and Friday night. Once at home, once on the road. While it seems unbelievable that they could do it twice in Boston, this is the best road team in basketball. Adding Brogdon to the mix to help close out the Celtics in five games would make things even sweeter.
Trust me Bucks fans, it will be worth the wait.
Charlie.
