SnoTap Packers Preview: Green Bay vs. Pittsburgh

A part of me wondered if I should do Packers preview posts as I’ve been in and out with these all season. Much of it is due to the fact my writing time gets shortened by quite a bit with my Friday morning workouts meaning I can’t stay up and get everything ready for the site. I’ve had a rebirth of sorts with writing in the last month. I don’t know what happened. Was it Martellus Bennett being an asshole that led me to start writing more? Maybe. I’m not sure. I like that we’re seeing results and kicking ass again. Thank you to all. Now, let’s figure out a way how Green Bay beats Pittsburgh because I don’t have much for us at this point.
Le’Veon Bell needs to be bottled up – I’m very worried about Le’Veon Bell going off in this game. Kenny Clark will not be playing with a high ankle sprain, and while getting Morgan Burnett back helps, Packers rushing defense could be in real trouble. My guess is Pitsburgh will ride Bell quite a bit this one, and with Green Bay’s struggles against screens, Bell could have a massive day in both rushing/passing attack.
Can Brett Hundley survive this Pittsburgh defense? – What’s been actually the most interesting part of Pittsburgh this season is the fact their offense hasn’t been the reason why they’re winning football. It’s their defense. Steelers secondary has been tough as fucking nails with only seeing minimal cracks. Their pass rush is fearsome, and they could be in Hundley’s kitchen multiple times. In the Indianapolis game where the Colts held strong with this team, Jacoby Brissett connected on two home run passes. Hundley will need to hit a couple of those too for Green Bay to have a chance. Because there’s a good chance this could get ugly really quick.
Pittsburgh plays down to their opponent – The three worst teams Pittsburgh played this season are Cleveland, Indianapolis and Chicago. They went 2-1 in those games, but in those two wins, they only won by three points. Steelers have a knack for playing down to their opponent. If they come out sleepy, Green Bay may have a chance to stay in this game until the finish. We shall see what happens on Sunday night. Ben Roesthlisberger has put up huge numbers against Green Bay in the past, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the same, yet, who knows, it could happen.
Prediction
Green Bay fans, it’s okay if the Packers lose this game. I have them losing as the Steelers have too much firepower on both sides of the ball. Pittsburgh will win this game with Bell wearing down this Packers defense, and they force a couple turnovers on Hundley. It’s not going to be as ugly as the line predicts, but still, it’s going to be a loss. Good news for Packers fans, they have two winnable games coming up after this one. PITT 27-17
