SnoTapWI Packers Preview: Arizona vs. Green Bay

There are a few things that never seem to come visit the Packers at Lambeau Field. The Arizona Cardinals are one of them. Since 2010, Packers-Cardinals played a total of five times including twice in the playoffs are four of those were in Green Bay. Packers did win the one game where Arizona came up to Lambeau. These aren’t the same two teams that met in the playoffs a few years ago. Cardinals are rebuilding their roster led by Josh Rosen and David Johnson while Green Bay is trying to launch themselves into the playoff race.
The return of Randall Cobb – From everything we heard yesterday, Randall Cobb will be back in action for the Packers. That’s a huge lift for Green Bay to have Cobb back in the fold. It helps Aaron Rodgers out especially on the underneath routes. Look for the Rodgers to look Cobb’s way often. With the recent declining play of Marquez Valdes-Scantling, I assume we see a great deal from Cobb in the slot this week.
Slowing down David Johnson – This hasn’t been the year anyone hoped for with David Johnson. He’s still one of the best running backs in football, but Arizona refused to use him the right way early in the year. New offensive coordinator Bryon Leftwich changed that midway through the year. Johnson could be trouble for Green Bay as the flats have been an issue for them in the passing game. Run defense stiffened versus Minnesota, but there were massive issues against Seattle. Look for Johnson to have a big day.
Protecting Aaron Rodgers – It’s unknown whether David Bakhtiari will be playing or not in this game. If he does not, it’s Jason Spriggs time. That’s a terrifying thought to anyone. Spriggs is an awful lineman and you pair him with Byron Bell… look out. Rodgers will need to be out of the pocket more than usual, and we might see Jamaal Williams more to help with picking up blitzes. Arizona might be bad, but they have a good pass rush that could cause a problem.
Prediction
Green Bay is around a 14-point favorite. They’ve covered in big spread games at home two out of the three times they’ve been above a touchdown. I don’t think it’s close, but I also cannot see the Packers dominating by 14.5 points. Packers win this game, everyone is feeling a little better but there will be work left to do against Atlanta.
