After Monday night’s game where Brewers took Lackey deep a couple times, he said in postgame interview that Eric Thames recent hot streak ‘It’s just something that makes you scratch your head.’ Unfortunately for Thames given the recent news from Starling Marte, these aren’t going to end. It’s truly frustrating that we still live in a time with baseball where players can be mad about their night then accuse a player of a taking something extra as the reason the batter beat the pitcher.

As you’ve seen the news, Marte got suspended for 80 games for anabolic steroids. He didn’t take something just to heal injury, rather, a steroid to make you better. There’s a difference even if baseball writers can’t get that through their skill. Marte will be with Ryan Braun, but they are different yet that’s another story for another time. All of this said, Thames will hear it from people if this hot streak continues throughout the month. I can just see it now – ‘Well we were all surprised with the Marte news, why wouldn’t we be with Thames?’ Lackey set a dangerous precedent for the rest of the season.

Thames seems like a guy you could see at a local bar and just shoot the shit for awhile about life so my guess is he’s not worried about this kind of thing. Still, it’s going to be an annoying part of the summer.
