Summerfest 50 Announcement: RHCP & P!nk
— Summerfest (@Summerfest) November 14, 2016
Summerfest is celebrating their 50th anniversary, and the assumption is they would do it big across the board for their performers. Summerfest kicks off their announcements by selecting Red Hot Chili Peppers and P!nk, a band and an artist who are past their prime, and we’re off to a lovely start. No disrespect to the band or the artist, but these aren’t the type of groups you expected to lead you off. I do realize that Summerfest gets bigger and better with artists as time goes on because it takes time to book some of these artists. If you recall, The Rolling Stones were not announced until February or March that they were coming to Marcus Amphitheater for one of the more memorable concerts in the past couple years.
Would I see either of these artists? For free, I probably go to Red Hot Chili Peppers and enjoy their classics. There’s nothing you could do to convince me to see P!nk. She’s just not my cup of tea.
