Syracuse Beats Buzzer and Stays On Bubble

Crazy night in college hoops on Wednesday. Oregon beat the buzzer to survive an upset bid by Cal on the road. Butler took down Villanova on the road with a big second half, and Providence won at the last-second upending Creighton on the road. Kansas also won their 13th straight Big 12 title. But the biggest moment of the night happened when Syracuse’s John Gillion hit a game-winning shot to pull off an upset of red-hot Duke Blue Devils.

Syracuse continues their push the Big Dance. Orange are still very much on the bubble. Bracket Matrix only has 47 out of the possible 116 to have Jim Boeheim’s bunch in the tournament. The ACC is chalk-full of good teams this year that it would not surprise me to see a team like Cuse get hot in the ACC Tournament and steal a bid. Last year, Orange got in with a 72 RPI, and easily, the most controversial decision the committee made only to see them make it all the way to the Final Four as a 10 seed. Orange have Louisville and Georgia Tech left on the schedule who are both must-wins if they want to keep pushing the bubble in their favor.
