Tai Strickland Leaves Wisconsin and Plans to Transfer
The hits keep coming for the Wisconsin Badgers. Tai Strickland, a three-star recruit, will no longer be a part of the Wisconsin Badgers. He will be transferring to another school in the Fall after a rather mundane freshman year. Strickland did not play much his freshman year and he will be taking his talents somewhere else next season. He is the son of former NBA player Rod Strickland. While losing a player on your team is always a dent, this isn’t that significant amid what some Badgers fans might be saying online.
Thank you to my teammates, my brothers, for everything y’all have done for me. I’ll always root for your success. I also want to thank Coach Gard and staff for giving me this opportunity, but at this time I have decided to transfer from Wisconsin and continue my career elsewhere. pic.twitter.com/ffr56CPF7b

Here are some thing to remember about Strickland – He came to Wisconsin late in the process of recruitment. Tai became the backup plan as Tyler Herro decided to play for Kentucky at the very last moment. The teams who were recruiting him were not in Wisconsin’s stratosphere. The decision he made to transfer is not a surprising one. Strickland can likely go to a mid-major and play meaningful minutes for them versus being stuck on the bench at Wisconsin. It is a good move for him and it opens up a roster spot for the Badgers.
They have three spots now open for next season. With the amount of transfers, both grad and full year, it would be foolish for Wisconsin to not look there. I know they’ve been in on a few guys, and Micah Potter was the first real grab for Wisconsin in this category. The next step is to bring in a grad transfer. While they’re not always a great fit, most work out pretty well for the team. Wisconsin needs a little more veteran leadership next season.
