The Big East Doesn’t Want You To See How Seton Hall-Marquette Ended

Marquette and Seton Hall played a barnburner on Saturday morning at the Fiserv Forum. Marquette came away with a great victory winning 73-72 in the final moments of the game. I did not get to watch this classic because I flew back to Hawaii with only FOX coverage, not FS1. Thankfully due to Southwest giving me access to iMessage, my buddy Mach helped me stay updated throughout the game and down the stretch. There were a lot of bad calls throughout the game but none that mattered more than the play at the very end.
Greg Elliott gets fouled and frankly bailed out on a call with under five seconds to go. Elliott makes one of two free throws to put Marquette up by a point. From there, Seton Hall would get the ball with 1.7 seconds left to do something special. Hall’s inbounder runs the baseline which would be an obvious violation. But the ref okayed the running, so, the officials agreed on a do-over instead of giving Marquette the basketball. Thankfully, the Pirates would turn the ball over on the next possession, and it would not matter. The Big East would like the fan not watching to know very little of this.
Justin Lewis gets a bucket to put Marquette up 72-70 which the YouTube video shows. But the next clip is the final play of the game where Seton Hall cannot handle the inbound pass. Nothing on the Elliott foul or the possession that came with it. Or the free throws for Elliott either. This is so bad by the Big East. They need to be transparent with their games. If the officials fucked up then it is better to showcase it versus try to hide it for the fans that didn’t watch the game live. This video shows everything and is somehow more transparent than the Big East’s version.
Again, this is pathetic and they should be embarrassed. It doesn’t give me confidence that the conference cares about good officiating.
Charlie.
