The Great Aaron Rodgers Contract Debate

Aaron Rodgers is set to get paid at some point very soon. The last quarterback domino fell yesterday when Matt Ryan received a five-year deal worth $150 million dollars where he will make $100 million guaranteed. It’s a ridiculous contract for Ryan. I know we say ‘Today’s NFL’, but I would rather start over with a new guy then give Ryan that kind of money. The expectation is for the Packers to pay Rodgers this absurd amount of money, but is there any way they can find a way to get creative with the dollar bills?
Packers are in a very tough spot. Never before have they given a player an absurd amount of money that might debilitate a franchise. I’m sure Russ Ball is crunching numbers trying to make things work for both sides. Green Bay could franchise tag him for a couple years, but that would probably lead to Rodgers leaving the team around 37. Green Bay could find a way to pay around the mid-tier of quarterbacks. Endorsement deals could be a plenty for Rodgers, and he might make up the NFL cash with endorsement cash. Rodgers could get any endorsement he wants if he asked the right people. He’s the best quarterback in the league meaning anyone would have him hawk their product. Could the Packers underpay Rodgers and he make it all back with endorsement money>
This is something that I expect to get done in the middle of the summer. Packers and Rodgers do not want to this lingering into the regular season because if a deal isn’t done, Rodgers will be a free agent. Green Bay does not want that obviously. Also, the QB1 does not want to talk about this all Fall. I’m sure it’s frustrating enough for him already, and it’s only getting worser for him.
Long way to go, but the Packers contract people have a hell of a summer.
