Greg Monroe’s Bucks Relationship Turns Frosty

Milwaukee Bucks made a big splash two offseasons ago by bringing Greg Monroe to the Cream City. Many people were excited to see Monroe join the team and create the big three with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker. That hasn’t happen. While Antetokounmpo and Parker have seen their stars grow, Monroe faded into obscurity. The relationship with Jason Kidd have gone cold, and Bucks need to change things quickly before the locker room is poisoned.
There’s a story about Monroe and assistant coach Greg Foster where it seems like Bucks big man didn’t like some criticism sent his way. Message boards can be a cesspool of misinformation, but this seems pretty legit. Follow that up with Monroe playing a grand total of eleven minutes in three games this week, and we seem to have an issue. Kidd made a comment about ‘two centers per game’, which didn’t make a ton of sense, and Bucks fans bullshit meters should have went off when Kidd said that in the first place.
Bucks need to figure out what they’re doing with Monroe because this is the opposite of what happened to Jonathan Lucroy and Milwaukee Brewers. Everyone thought the agreement was Monroe played well enough to get traded somewhere, and he would get a better opportunity at his next adventure. Instead, Monroe scuffled his feet and pitched a bad attitude. Milwaukee finally got fed up and put Monroe in timeout. Will he start seeing some time in the coming weeks, and this was a pseudo one week suspension? Perhaps. Biggest problem for Milwaukee with Bucks center is they really cannot get out of his contract. There’s no way a team will take on his money for the production he’s giving to Bucks. Only way for Monroe to leave the city is for him to play better, and that’s not happening currently.
If Monroe continues to see these kind of minutes for the next three games, this discussion may have to continue beyond this blog post.
