Travis Shaw’s Third Bat is a Charm

Travis Shaw is one of the fan favorites at Miller Park. Christian Yelich is the god right now to fans (More on this in the podcast today) but Shaw is a favorite. Mayor of Ding Dong City (Shouts to Carrabis) is the best nickname on the squad, and he turned around a tough first half with a dynamic second half campaign. The Brewers second baseman broke his bat on his first swing of his third at-bat with Homer Bailey. Then the next bat he grabbed had a crack in it thus his third bat proved to be the winner as he slugged a go-ahead home run with it. Brewers didn’t look back from there.

This is the shorten version, but MLB.com has a great clip of Brian Anderson discussing how this bat wants to get into the game. There are many quotes about ‘The Natural’ which I get because it has a Roy Hobbs-feel to it. But can we all agree ‘The Natural’ stinks out loud as a baseball movie? I watched it a LONG time ago with my family, but I remembered being completely bored out of my goddamn mind until the final scene.
Shaw has hit 25 homers, and he has a chance to beat his 2017 power numbers with a strong six weeks here.
Charlie.
