Milwaukee Brewers are pretty much at the do or die portion of the season. They could easily not have anything to play for this weekend against St. Louis, or they could have everything to play for. It’s pretty easy and based off whatever the Rockies do at Coors Field. They won tonight beating Miami to keep their lead at 1.5 because Milwaukee won a tight one 7-6 as Stephen Vogt led the way to keep off a Reds team who found the homer stroke tonight.

I believe in Stephen Vogt
So maybe Vogt isn’t the greatest defensive catcher in the world, and that’s problematic against Billy Hamilton, yet he gets the job done on offense. Vogt finished with three doubles in this game where he scored on two of them. He had a nice second half of the season with the team. One of the ‘What if’s’ of the season has to be not losing the former All-Star for six weeks in the middle of the second half.

Josh Hader battles with a powerful Reds team
This may have not been the Josh Hader outing where we all freak out and love everything he did, but it is one where we can appreciate him scuffling a bit yet still finding a way to get outs. Hader went for nearly three innings and got six strikeouts while allowing two runs. We likely will not see him for the rest of the series, but it bridged the gap with Zach Davies having a tough night.

First inning propels the team
Love what Milwaukee got in the first inning with their four-run start. They jumped out early thanks to a Domingo Santana home run which put them up 3-0 very quick then two doubles extended the lead by one more. Santana will have a shot at 30 home runs this season which I think none of us predicted.

Next up
They do it again in Milwaukee and payback should be on Milwaukee’s minds as Homer Bailey heads to the mound. You may remember Bailey stifling the Crew on Labor Day after they came off winning three of four against Washington. They owe him big time. Brandon Woodruff looks for a strong bounceback after the Dave Bush-like blowup at the end of his last start.
