Why Aaron Rodgers Went On The Attack
Aaron Rodgers plays it cool and safe. That is part of his brand. Some might call him sensitive which could be true, but Rodgers always seems to keep his wits about him. Not on Monday. No on Monday, Rodgers came out fully loaded and ready to deliver the fire to anyone who would listen about the article written by Ty Dunne. Some Packers fans are wondering ‘Why would Rodgers say anything? Some of that might be true. Why take more headlines away from the Milwaukee brethren this week? Because Aaron believes in himself, what others have said about him and feels like he’s been wrong. He said his peace and it is done. I respect Rodgers for going out there and not dancing around the topic.
Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin hosted Rodgers and pointed out to Steve ‘The Homer’ True that this is an ‘annual thing that Tausch (Co-host Mark Tauscher) and I do with Rodgers. We usually do one in Spring, one in Training Camp and if we’re lucky, one in the regular season.’ From what I gathered from Wilde, the Packers quarterback wanted to speak his mind and get this all out in the open. The way Rodgers spoke with such conviction and passion made it feel like a diss track. Was Rodgers playing the role of Nas while Dunne was Jay Z? No matter your stature in life, it is hard to let things go when you feel you’ve been wronged. Aaron felt that and wanted to get into it.
Part of the reason why Rodgers made the decision was to tell Jermichael Finley and Greg Jennings to shut the fuck up. He said it nicer than I did, but that was implied. Finley and Jennings love to put Rodgers’ name on their lips to gain traction and clout with today’s media. The two have done it countless times throughout the years, and finally, Aaron said ‘Enough is enough.’ It almost seemed like he was tired to talk about these two guys that Ha Ha Clinton-Dix referred to yesterday as ‘clowns.’
When a host of people have your back, they are privately telling you to go on the offensive. Rodgers lives and shares a life with a hyper-competitive athlete in her own right. You cannot tell me she or any of the people who had his back on social media told him to lay down. Rodgers was not about to let this linger throughout the season. He put a final nail in the coffin, even if questions will come on Wednesday and throughout the summer, it is dead. Rodgers killed it today.
He talked about how chips on your shoulders ‘go away after you achieve something great.’ And a part of me wondered if a new chip developed with Dunne’s article. If so, it could be a special season.
