The Wild Lillard Rumor That Drove Bucks Twitter Nuts

NBA Trade Deadline is filled with rumors. We see all types of them. We see different players getting the ‘They’re going to get traded before the week is over’ or ‘We’re taking calls on this guy.’ Yesterday afternoon, Frank Isola of the New York Daily News said the wildest rumor he heard was Damian Lillard to Milwaukee Bucks for Jabari Parker and of course other pieces. This threw Bucks Twitter into a frenzy with people getting mad at each other, and my question is what’s the point of shooting down this rumor?
Wildest rumor: Damian Lillard to Bucks for in a deal that could include Jabari Parker….tough to believe. Parker is on 2nd knee surgery.

Isola points out this is the ‘wildest’ rumor he heard about this week which means there might not be any weight to it or it’s just so wild, he can’t believe it. That said, it’s worth a discussion. He isn’t some guy writing on a shitty NBA memes site trying to get fake trades up for clicks and attention on Facebook.
It was a crazy dynamic to see some talking about the possibility, others shooting it down by getting conformation from Bucks which is the silliest thing ever. Do you really think Bucks are going to tell you ‘Yep! We’re trading Jabari.’ There’s not the ones worth talking to at this point. Speak to an agent, a business manager, a buddy of their’s, someone who isn’t the team trading a cornerstone player. This isn’t a hard thing to do. Getting Milwaukee’s word is a way to shape the story without knowing the truth. This isn’t a conspiracy by me, rather, just think about how much they want you to know.
Also when Senior Vice President Alex Lasry decided to mix it up, people starting act like that’s bible. Usually, Lasry is a good source to look to for things like this even if I think it’s odd the media relations people give him a free leash to do what he wants on Twitter. But going back to the earlier point, he’s not going to give you any information that the team doesn’t want out there. He can act dismayed to help calm down the rumors in case something real is happening or if it’s not.
We’ll see what Bucks to do today. The goal would be to move John Henson, Tony Snell, Michael Beasley and Jason Terry in no particular order. If they can get some value for any of those guys, it’s a win today. And if this wild rumor proves to be true or gets close to happening then we have another story to discuss.
