Za’Darius Smith Thinks Rashan Gary Should Change His Last Name to Smith Too

As we head into the first Packers game of the year, the hype trains are interesting, right? We did not have the preseason to justify if a hype train was warranted for a certain player or not. Right now, Marques Valdez-Scantling probably has the most eyes on him heading into the season from a hype perspective. MVS’s counterpart on the defensive side of the ball is Rashan Gary. People are expecting big things from the first-round draft pick. Za’Darius Smith believes that he will have a big year and said in yesterday’s press conference that ‘Gary should change his name to Smith.’ They’re welcoming in a third Smith brother to the show.

While it would be pretty fun to see Gary warm up in a ‘Smith’ jersey, my guess is he will not be changing his name. If Gary has a Za’Darius or Preston-like impact this season, the NFL is fucked. I’m doing my best not to get too excited about everything. Smith could be gassing his guy up because he wants him to be great. Gary talked about how he wanted to do more in Season 2. We’ll see if that’s the case. Hopefully, he is not putting too much pressure on himself.
Maybe we call them the defensive law firm of Smith, Smith, and Gary? That has a ring to it.
Charlie.
