Milwaukee Brewers started off their road schedule with a trip to Chicago. One of the few places they visited last year. This year, fans were in the stands, but no Ryan Braun to boo which made me sad. And also what made me sad was the Brewers’ offense. Yet again, Milwaukee failed to do anything early on in the game. This is a bit of a concern considering this was the problem last year. The assumption was that things were fixed and that Milwaukee would come to life a little bit here. That has not happened yet. Brewers’ offense remained dormant as they fell to Chicago, 5-3 losing their third straight game.

THREE STARS
Omar Narvaez – This is going to sound crazy, but here we go. This is the best game of Omar Narvaez’s Brewers career. He did not have a game like this in 2020. Narvaez had two hits. One that broke up the no-hitter. The other one was a moonshot to put the Brewers back to 4-3. Good on him for figuring some stuff out offensively. That makes a difference for the Crew. With Narvaez hitting well, he might be a candidate to get bumped up in the order. We’ll likely not see him tonight against the lefty.

TWO STARS
Brett Anderson – If this is where a 1-5 star ratings edition, this would be perfect for Brett Anderson. But since it’s three, it seems like I’m saying he was average in this game. Not so fast. It is more below average and I’m rounding to two. Anderson cruised along in the first three innings then gave up three home runs. That cannot happen. He served up three really bad pitchers. If that sinker doesn’t have sink, it flattens out and gets hit hard. Anderson did pitch well in the other innings, but that blow-up is the one that makes in a loss versus a win.

ONE STAR
Keston Hiura – What’s wrong with Keston Hiura? It is amazing we are four games into the season and Hiura already needs a day off. He is thinking too much at the plate. I’m not sure what exactly is happening with him, but he isn’t there mentally. Hiura has struck out 50 percent of the at-bats this season. That’s not good. He needs to get back to the lab and figure some stuff on immediately. Even with the lefty on the mound tomorrow, it’s best that Hiura either bats seventh or eighth or take the day off. Deal with the lefty/lefty matchup at first.

NEXT UP
Brewers get set for game number two with the Cubs as they will send Freddy Peralta to the hill. Peralta will get his chance to be in the starting rotation. Talk about a guy who needs some runs early, that’s Fastball Fred. Chicago sends Adbert Alzolay to the mound. He is an unknown to the Brewers which always makes me nervous.
