Bucks Buzz Vol. 16: Giannis & Bucks Put League On Notice

On Tuesday night in the NBA, things got weird like that Workaholics GIF as Brooklyn Nets took down Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic beat San Antonio on the road and Milwaukee Bucks blew out Cleveland Cavaliers. The last one might not be that weird. Giannis and Bucks sent a warning shot to entire league tonight that this team is coming for the crown, and it’s not going to be long until it’s in reach.
Player of the Game (Bucks): Giannis Antetokounmpo – It’s going to be really fun to watch Giannis during the All-Star festivities as an actual all-star. He’s playing so well right now, and let’s be honest, there’s reason to mention him with Russell Westbrook and others in the MVP conversation. I’m not saying he’s the leader, but the young man deserves a seat at the table. Antetokounmpo finished this game with 34 points, tying a career-high, 12 rebounds, five assists, five steals and two blocks. No one on the Cavs could stop Giannis, and it was beautiful to see.
(Not) Player of the Game (Bucks): Tony Snell – Not much to complain about for Bucks, but Snell did have a rough night shooting the ball with only eight points and making one of six threes. Bucks really didn’t need his production though.
Player of the Game (Cavs): Kevin Love – There weren’t many candidates for this honor either as Kyrie Irving didn’t return from the halftime locker room, LeBron James had seven turnovers, a season-high so Love gets it due to the double-double. He had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Not the best night for him, but he helped Cleveland as much as he could tonight.
Positive: Bucks can play with anyone – Milwaukee should come away from this game that no opponent is too big for Milwaukee. They only lost to Golden State by four points a couple weeks ago in a winnable game, they played Toronto tooth and nail last Friday, and tonight, Bucks broke through with a big victory against Cleveland where they took over from the second quarter on. Hopefully, this draws more local eyes to the team.
Negative: Slow out the gates – The current trend for this Bucks team is takes them a quarter to really wake up. It looked like Cleveland could boat race this team as they were up 15 at one point. Thankfully, Milwaukee got their shit together and started playing basketball, which Giannis led that charge.
Next up: Bucks head to Brooklyn where they’ve played some absolute classics like the two 3OT games in 2014-2015. Milwaukee currently has a five-game winning streak against Nets. They cannot let down here. Milwaukee has a real opportunity to string together some wins. Let’s hope they take advantage of it.
Charlie.
