Marques Johnson Deserves a Spot in the Basketball Hall of Fame
The Basketball Hall of Fame named their finalists for 2021, and the Milwaukee Bucks’ great Marques Johnson was one of the finalists. Johnson has become a recent fan favorite in the State of Wisconsin. He is well-respected and well-liked as a broadcaster here. And for many Bucks fans, they grew a fondness for his career looking up what did in the 80s for Milwaukee. He joins a long list of basketball greats considered for the Hall of Fame next year. Johnson has the numbers to join his brethren.
Finalists from the NBA for the 2021 @Hoophall class announced today: Chris Bosh, Michael Cooper, Tim Hardaway, Marques Johnson, Paul Pierce, Ben Wallace and Chris Webber … plus Rick Adelman and Bill Russell in the coaching category.

This is a good list overall. Paul Pierce feels like a no-brainer. Chris Webber also feels like he deserves a spot. Johnson and Michael Cooper will likely split some of the votes as the ‘old guys’ in this group. Johnson went to the All-Star game five different times in his career. He’s also in the top 75 of most efficient players of all-time. Johnson also made it as an All-American in 1976-1977 which matters as they evaluate your full basketball career. Cooper doesn’t even come close to what Johnson did for his career.
We’ll see if Johnson can make a reasonable push at making the Hall of Fame. You know the Bucks will push it hard on social media, on the broadcast, and in other places. To be considered among the greats is a great accomplishment too for Marques.
