Mike Budenholzer Probably Shed a Tear When Ersan Ilyasova Signed With Utah

The dream is dead. Ersan Ilyasova will not be playing with the Milwaukee Bucks anymore. After not being signed for the first part of the year, Ersan got a deal done with the Utah Jazz. He will be joining the team after the break is over. Ersan will be part of a semi-Budenholzer system with Quin Synder running things. You have to think this is an emotional day if you’re Mike Budenholzer. That’s his guy. No one compares to Ersan. Maybe only Pat Connaughton. This feels very much like Succession when Logan Roy is finally leaning towards Rowan over Kendall, and Kendall is thinking about paving his own path. This is Ersan’s time.
Pending final bloodwork, free agent forward Ersan Ilyasova will sign vet min deal w/the #Jazz tomorrow, per sources. Ilyasova has already gone through Covid protocol. The 33-year-old played in 63 games last season for the Bucks, averaging 6.6 PPG (36.5 percent 3s) / 4.8 REBS.

It is likely that Ilyasova will not play much for Utah. He will probably only be there for wing support and come off the bench for a charge or two. Ersan lives out in Utah which is a wild move in its own right but he does. Plus I believe there is a relationship with Justin Zanick. In no way was I advocating for Ersan to return to Milwaukee though. But you bet your ass that if they asked Budenholzer about it, he would have been in all the way.
