NFL Media Misleads On Packers Needing More Quarterback Support

Adam Schefter broke the Aaron Rodgers story. How that story came to life was the San Francisco 49ers leaked the news and away we go. It’s a big story for Schefter and one he’s been n the ground floor with. But similar to his buddy Adrian Wojnarowski, there is a feeling of playing kingmaker in the media. Schefter has all the power in the world right now with this story, and of course, he is abusing it because it means more clicks, engagements, views if he presents this ‘Packers hate Aaron Rodgers’ approach. The tweet he had this morning is very disingenuous but it’s not surprising at all.
Packers have begun exploring QBs they can add to their roster for OTAs and training camp, per sources. Jordan Love currently is the only other quarterback on the roster, but the team also faces uncertainty surrounding Aaron Rodgers. Packers’ QB search includes some veterans.

They have Jordan Love and no one else. Even if Rodgers was ready to play this season, they would still have needed to add someone to the mix in case of injury. The quarterback room would always be three or four deep to start training camp. Sometimes, they would go as high five quarterbacks to start the offseason then pare it down to two or three. Schefter blatantly infers that the Packers are looking for veterans because of the looming Rodgers’ situation. That is not the case. The Rodgers part of this is actually meaningless. Schefter could have easily structured the tweet saying ‘Whether Aaron Rodgers is back or not, Green Bay needs some additional quarterbacks. They’ve been talking to free agents.’ That doesn’t get the engagement though.
Save your worries on this one.
