Summerfest 2021 Announces a Strong Lineup in Its Return

Summerfest is returning to Milwaukee in September. They will be doing it over the span of three weekends in September starting with Labor Day Weekend and ending the 18th of September. While they did not know how the pandemic would go, Summerfest could have probably gone with their normal calendar. Rates are falling, COVID restrictions should be coming off soon, and more and more people are vaccinated. Regardless, they’re doing it in September and there are a lot of acts that the City of Milwaukee can get behind seeing as well as yours truly.

Summerfest is adding an extra day to the mix with a ‘kick-off the weekend’ concert on Wednesday. That’s why Dave Matthews Band and Jonas Brothers are playing on Wednesday nights. One more band is expected for that first show. My guess is Summerfest is trying to swing for the fences and bring a large act to town. Some might say it’s too country with the top performer, but most years at Summerfest, it is similar to that. Right now, Miley Cyrus and Chance the Rapper are the two non-country acts playing the main stage, but I would expect more.

As for the free stages, I’m fired up that Run The Jewels is coming. That will be a go for me. Fitz & The Tantrums, Wilco, Cold War Kids, Diplo all set to play on free stages as well. The Wisconsin staples like REO Speedwagon and O.A.R. will also be there.

This should be an awesome few weekends in Milwaukee.
